History of Sandy High School Construction

Sandy High School has been around as long as most folks can remember. A short history of the construction from 1922 to 2008 is presented below. A special thanks to the Sandy Historical Society for providing the historical photographs.

The original high school was built in 1922 as shown below.

Begun in 1934 and completed in 1936, the school had a substantial addition of 17 classrooms, a gymnasium and multipurpose area which still exist today.

In 1964, the original 1922 structure was demolished. The remaining existing buildings were remodeled and new classrooms were added along with the library.

In 1965, the Frasier wing (named for Charles Frasier) was added.

In 1974, 5 more classrooms were added along with another remodel.

In 1986, modulars were purchased to add 3 additional classrooms, a production center and textbook depository.

In 1988 four additional classrooms were completed.

In 2005, paid for in part by the passing of a bond in 2002, some renovations were completed including roofing and carpet. An elevator was installed to increase accessibility.

In 2007, two modulars were added next to the soccer field.
